For some people, sensitive skin can make daily activities painful and difficult to perform. Sensitive skin is typically caused by an allergic reaction to something in the environment, like harsh soaps, perfumes or environmental irritants. If you’re sick of dealing with sensitive skin, consider these ways to make your skin less sensitive so that you can have more confidence when you’re out in public and doing everyday things.

Don’t Overdo It with the Products

It’s important to limit the number of products you use on your skin. When you use too many, they can end up clogging your pores, leaving your skin feeling congested. If you notice that after using a certain product for a few days, your skin is no longer sensitive or itchy, then switch to using that product less often or find an alternative product for the other days of the week.

Be Gentle When Washing Your Face

When you wash your face, be gentle and do not scrub too hard. The best way to clean your skin is with a good quality cleanser or soap. Be sure that the cleanser is non-comedogenic, which means it won’t clog pores. If you have sensitive skin, use mild products so as not to irritate your skin any more than it already is. Make sure that whatever you’re using doesn’t contain alcohols, fragrances, or harsh ingredients. And avoid washing your face more then twice per day because doing this can dry out your skin and lead to dry patches.

Exfoliate Gently

Exfoliation is a great way to get rid of dead skin cells and make your skin look smoother. But you want to be careful not to scrub too hard or use anything that could irritate your skin. Gently exfoliating using something like a sugar or salt scrub, or with an exfoliating glove can help make your skin less sensitive and more resistant to breaking out. You also want to be sure to moisturise after because the process removes oil from the surface of your skin. Use gentle cleansers and products, since those are designed for sensitive skin.

Choose Fragrance-Free Products

Fragrance-free products can help make skin less sensitive, but the downside is that you’ll have a hard time finding any fragrances at all. Luckily, there are plenty of other options for people with sensitive skin.

You could try using products that don’t contain harsh chemicals and are made with plant-based ingredients. Products like this will be hypoallergenic and won’t irritate your skin as easily as other products might. And they’re often cheaper than chemical-based products! Try out some organic skincare and see if you see improvements that chemical-based products didn’t give you.

Use Sunscreen

No matter how long you stay out in the sun, sunscreen is the most important thing you can do for your skin. Studies have shown that UV rays cause damage to skin cells and can lead to premature ageing, wrinkles, and more.

But what type of sunscreen should you use?

Sunscreen is available in many forms including creams, sprays, and sticks. Look for a sunscreen that offers broad-spectrum protection from both UVA and UVB rays. This is important because not all sunscreens protect against UVA rays. While UVA doesn’t burn your skin, it does cause damage by entering skin cells and causing premature ageing, wrinkles, and sensitivity.
