Teenage years can be rough – you’re trying to figure out who you are as an individual, but your body and skin are going through rapid changes as well. The best teenage skin care products will make it much easier to cope with these changes and keep your skin glowing and smooth for many years to come. Here are some of the best teenage skin care products on the market today!

Tackling Teenage Skin: Blemishes, acne, and redness

When it comes to teenage skin care, the most important thing is to keep it clean. Wash your face twice a day with a gentle cleanser and make sure to remove all makeup before going to bed. In addition to cleansing, use a light moisturiser to keep skin hydrated. Exfoliate once or twice a week to remove dead skin cells and unclog pores.  Avoid touching your face as much as possible – this will reduce oil production and prevent breakouts.

Work on your diet and exercise habits. Eating a healthy diet will help you maintain good skin. Increase your intake of omega-3 fatty acids by eating more fish like salmon or tuna and adding flax seeds to salads. Omega-3s improve blood circulation which reduces redness and inflammation in skin and prevents breakouts. Exercise can also help reduce stress levels and minimise breakouts. Make time for workouts at least 3 times a week, even if they are short 10-minute sessions. It’s better than nothing! Drink plenty of water each day to flush out toxins from your body and clear up acne-prone skin. You should be drinking about eight glasses of water per day. Drinking lemon juice mixed with warm water every morning will aid in cleansing and detoxifying your body, leaving your skin clearer and healthier. You should eat a variety of foods that offer different vitamins and minerals, including foods rich in protein such as eggs, chicken breast, spinach and broccoli. These types of food provide nutrients that are great for healthy hair growth and beautiful glowing skin.

Cleansing

As a teenager, it’s important to cleanse your face twice a day to remove dirt, oil, and makeup. Choose a gentle cleanser that won’t strip your skin of its natural oils.   Make sure to wash off all the cleanser before going to bed as you don’t want any excess oils on your pillowcase. You also want to use an exfoliating product in the morning or evening as needed, preferably one with AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) or BHA (beta hydroxy acid). These will help gently slough away dead skin cells and break down pore-clogging sebum. It’s best to apply these products after cleansing so that they are fully absorbed into the skin rather than sitting on top of dry patches.  Use toners to hydrate and prepare the skin for other treatments like moisturiser.  Toners typically contain alcohols and astringents which can be too harsh for sensitive skin types. Toners come in various concentrations of pH levels, some high while others low; if you have oily skin it is recommended to purchase a toner with a higher pH level while those who have dry skin should opt for one that has a lower pH level.

Exfoliating

One of the best things you can do for your skin is to exfoliate regularly. Exfoliating helps to remove dead skin cells, which can build up and make your skin look dull. It also helps to unclog pores and prevent breakouts. There are a few different ways you can exfoliate your skin. You can use an exfoliating cleanser, scrub, or mask. You can also use a brush or cloth designed specifically for exfoliating. These tools help to gently buff away dry, dead skin cells while they cleanse. A good rule of thumb is to exfoliate once a week with something gentle like a cream-based scrub. If you have sensitive skin, try using it every other week instead.

Treating blemishes

If you’re a teenager with blemishes, you’re not alone. In fact, acne is the most common skin condition. The good news is that there are things you can do to treat your blemishes and get clear, glowing skin. You should always cleanse your face twice daily (once in the morning and once at night) using an oil-free cleanser for normal to oily skin or an exfoliating cleanser for dry or sensitive skin.

Look to fight bacteria and heal irritated skin by removing excess oil from your pores. You may need to try different treatments before finding one that works best for you – but don’t give up! It’s worth the time and effort so you can have clear, glowing skin again!
